South Africa - Chronic Disease Initiative for Africa (CDIA)

The Chronic Disease Initiative for Africa (CDIA) is a network of multidisciplinary researchers and policymakers drawn from academic institutions in South Africa, the South African Medical Research Council, and representatives of local/national Departments of Health. CDIA serves as a regional hub for developing and evaluating models for chronic disease care and prevention of their risk factors. The network aims to train chronic disease researchers and to work closely with government authorities in the formulation of cost-effective plans to reduce the impact of chronic diseases. The CDIA plays a key role in the coordination of CEBHA+ primary research on NCDs and is focusing on strengthening existing relationships and building new ones across the CEBHA+ partner countries.
